County Championship Rules

  1. Entry fees as fixed by the Executiive Committee, will be payable to the Cornwall County Indoor Bowls Association.

  2. Green fees for each round of all County Championships will be paid by each participating player.

  3. Players in any qualifying games will be deemed to have played in the relevant Championship and clubs will be responsible to the Cornwall County Indoor Bowls Association for their entry fees.

  4. The Championships are limited to full playing members of Clubs affiliated to the Cornwall County Indoor Bowls Association. Sides to comprise of  members from the same club. NO player shall be included in more than one side or represent more than one Club in any season. ALL  names must be entered in the relevant competition on the Championship entry forms. Incomplete entries will not be accepted.

  5. The Championships will be played on the Knock-out  principle and shall conform  to the Laws of the Game for Indoor Bowls as published by the English Indoor Bowling Association.

  6. In any round not required to be played at a designated venue the players first drawn in any pairing shall be the challengers and must, not later than TEN DAYS BEFORE the final date of the INITIAL round  and not later than TEN DAYS AFTER the closing date of the INITIAL and subequent rounds, offer the opponents the choice of TWO dates, one of which must be a Saturday or Sunday. (Opponents engaged in any National or County Championship or Inter-Club Competition may request an alternative week-end date and one of which must be a week day. (Public Holidays excluded).) THE GAME SHALL BE PLAYED NO LATER THAN THE CLOSING DATE OF THE ROUND. The opponents shall within THREE days of receipt of the challenge accept one of the dates offered. Except by mutual agreement weekday matches shall not commence before 6.00pm or after 7.00pm.

  7. Rounds scheduled at designated Clubs must be played on the days listed. Any player or side not appearing will be disqualified from the Competition, The Executive Committee will appoint officials for the day.

  8. In any round of the Singles competition NOT played at a designated club, the player first drawn in any pairing will, as  challenger, provide a marker and have home advantage. For rounds to be played at any designated clubs, the home club shall provide markers for the first session of play. Provision of markers on Finals Day will be arranged by the Executive Committee.

  9. Except in the case of Singles, one additional and the same player may be used as a substitute at any time provided he has NOT played or been listed on the entry form as an entrant in any other team in the Championship concerned. He may play in any position.

  10. Singles shall be twenty-one shots. Pairs, Triples, and Rinks shall be eighteen ends.

  11. Score cards showing the names of all players, signed by both players and skips, MUST be forwarded by the winner to the County Competition Secretary within twenty-four hours of the completion of the match. When matches are played at designated venues, this must be done by the appointed official.

  12. DRESS for any round not required to be played at a designated venue will be white above the waist. On any other occasion DRESS will be FULL WHITES but Club colour shirts may be worn.

  13. Players unable to turn up at their designated venue will inform the Honorary County Competition Secretary and their opponents, and will be required to pay both Green Fees. Failure to pay the required Green Fees will result in ineligibility in the following year's relevant Competition subject to the right of appeal to the County Executive Committee.

  14. All losers in the Singles Competition at designated venues will, if required, mark the following round.

  15. Any player failing to arrive 15 minutes after the scheduled reporting time shall forfeit their game.

  16. All matches required to be played at designated venues will be staged as arranged by  the Executive Committee and the Clubs concerned.

  17. Championship Trophies and Replicas to be presented on Finals Day.

  18. Trophies to be returned to the County Secretary by 28th February.

  19. The County Competition Secretary will be responsible for the organisation and running of the Championships.

In order that competitors may be notified promptly of their opponents in ensuing rounds, players are requested to pay CAREFUL ATTENTION TO RULES 6 & 11 and forward their Score Cards, duly signed to:
