Despite narrowly losing on all four rinks at Kingsley on February 27th, Cornwall retained the Over 50s Shield by virtue of a corresponding and greater 4 rink victory in the home leg at Bodmin earlier in the season. Carrying a 44 shot margin, Cornwall were down as much as 45 shots in just the opening exchanges of the game but managed to gain understanding of the green and progressively reduce the deficit,

The victory represents Cornwall's only triumph over neighbours Devon as the Liberty match was conceded, followed by defeats in the National Over-60s Cup and the Westsports Trophy.

Cornwall bowlers are deeply saddened to hear that Mike Carpenter lost his battle to see the end of the indoor season out when he passed away overnight on  Monday 8th. Mike, President of Cornwall IBA during the covid era from 2020-2022, fought a long battle against the worst debilitating disease. RIP Mike and thank you for your love of bowls.

The match on 27th March at Carnmoggas between a Presidents Team and a Patrons Team will be played in honour of Mike.

Cornwall IBA were extremely honoured when Devon chose their 50th Anniversary Celebration match to be held against Cornwall rather than any other body. The game was played in excellent spirits throughout and the match was evenly balanced throughout, with Cornwall gallantly allowing a Devon victory in their Celebration game. Ian Turner, Devon's Immediate Past President composed a poem which was well received by all the players at the post match tea. The poem is reproduced below:
