Competition Rules

The competitions are limited to full playing members of Clubs affiliated to the Cornwall County Indoor Bowls Association. No player should represent more than one club in any one season.

  1. Entrance fees will be fixed by the Executive Committee.

  2. Appropriate club stickers will be used.

  3. Other than a Top Team final when white trousers will be worn, dress to be grey trousers with white or club coloured tops in all matches. Flat soled bowling shoes must be worn.

  4. The competitions will be played under the WIBC Laws of the game (as amended by the EIBA) except where amended by these rules.

  5. The County Competitions Secretary will be responsible for the organisation and running of the competitions.

  6. The draw for the Top Team will be made at the Executive Committee meeting held prior to the AGM.

  7. All fixtures MUST be played by the first Sunday in April.

  8. In any of the Inter-Club Competitions, clubs defaulting on more than one fixture shall be excluded from the relevant competition and hhave all their results deleted.

Top Team

  1. The Competition shall be run on a knock-out basis. A Club team shall consist of eleven players, all members of the same club, four of whom shall play as a Rink, three as a Triple, two as a Pair, one as a Four Wood Singles player (21 shots) and one as a Two Wood Singles player (21 ends).

  2. A Club may enter only one side.

  3. The side shall play together on the same green, rinks  to be drawn except that when rink space is limited the Two Wood Singles and Four Wood Singles will be played consecutively on one rink and in that order. One point shall be awarded to each winning Rink, Triple, Pair, and Singles.

  4. All matches shall be played to a result with extra ends if necessary in Rinks, Triples, Pairs and Two Wood Singles.

Inter-Club League (ICL)

  1. Each Club may provide an "A" side and where possibly a "B" side comprising of four rinks and will play two matches against every other side, one Home and one Away on separate dates. Sides may not play with more than one player short.

  2. One point will be awarded for each winning rink and ½ a point for a tie. Three points for an overall win and 1½ points for a tie.

  3. In the event of a fixture not being played the non-defaulting side will be awarded all points  and be allocated 75 shots for with 25 shots against. The defaulting side will concede all points and be allocated 25 shots.

Bergen Shield

  1. Each Club will play two matches (one Home and one Away) against every other club which has entered the competition. Side to consist of four Triples, two playing at Home and two playing Away on the same day and at the same start time.

  2. Sides may not play with more than one player short.

  3. Clubs are recommended that, and as far as possible, they should avoid including ICL and County Trophy players

  4. Games will be played on mornings during the week, no Weekend or evening play. 10.00am start

  5. Two points will be awarded for each winning rink and 1 point for a tie. Five points for an overall win and 2½ points for a tie.

  6. In the event of a fixture not being played the non-defaulting side will be awarded all points  and be allocated 75 shots for with 25 shots against. The defaulting side will concede all points and be allocated 25 shots for and 75 against.

County Trophy

  1. Each Club will play one home match of four Triples against one Triple from each of the other four clubs

  2. Each Club will play one Away match at each other club and will provide one Triple

  3. Sides will comprise of a minimum of twelve players

  4. Two points will be awarded for each winning Triple and oone point for a tie after 18 ends.
